At Tokyo International Gift Show Spring 2011, Izumo Senko exhibited handmade watches belonging to its three brands: v.c.e, dedegumo, and deee.
At Izumo Senko, we have three stores in Kyoto. Each has about four staff and the stores double as workshops, where the watches are made. The movements we use are manufactured in Japan, and all the other parts, including the cases, straps, and dials, are made by hand in Japan.
One of the brands, dedegumo, is based on the concept of traditional Japanese design. A dedegumo store opened in New York’s SoHo last November, and it’s been quickly gaining popularity.
The concept behind the v.c.e brand is “Simple Is Best.” These square models are popular with women, and have become long-sellers.
The concept behind the deee models is “space.” Some of them have a glass back, to reveal the inner workings. These models feature individualistic designs.
Currently, watchmaking artisans are increasing throughout Japan. So basically, in our models, the emphasis is on “concept.” We’d like to keep working to bring out the very best in handmade watches, including novel and interesting features.
