A humidifier that uses wood shavings, but no electricity

About five years ago, I went to visit the company’s factory and was amazed to see how they gave masu (traditional wooden measuring box) a beautiful finish with a plane. The planning process results in a huge amount of wood shavings. While they were in the factory, the shavings were beautifully clean, but they were simply thrown away. So I wondered if it would be possible to use them in some way, and that was the beginning of the design process.
This humidifier uses no electricity or heat supply, and simply uses natural evaporation, so it doesn’t humidify the air excessively, but tests have shown that it humidifies 8-10 times more than water in a cup. And as the moisture evaporates, it fills the room with the gentle perfume of hinoki cypress.
Customers tell us that because of the characteristics of the product, rather than humidifying an entire room they find the best way to use it is to place it in the entrance hall when one is welcoming a special guest, where they can enjoy its fresh appearance as well as its perfume; or it can be placed in a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats.
It is also available on our website aimed at overseas customers and, as we have had a number of inquiries from overseas, we plan to step up our efforts in this area.
